8 Ways to Give Back This Holiday Season: Woodlands Edition

With November comes falling leaves, cooler temperatures, and a desire to give back to the community. Today, we bring you eight different ways to give back to the community and make someone’s day brighter!

Clothing Donation

It’s a great time to clean out your closets and cupboards. Places such as Goodwill and The Interfaith Hand Me Up Shop are always excepting donations of gently used clothes and household items. Dress For Sucess is a great way to help women who are trying to succeed in the workforce. By donating gently used professional attire., you will be helping a woman secure a job.

Donate to an Animal Shelter

Animal shelters are always in need of volunteers as well as donations. Most shelters love to get monetary donations but many such as Animal Shelter Volunteers of Texas, located in Montgomery TX, also accept gently used (or new!) collars, leashes, towels/sheets, and toys. For a greater list of needs check out their website here.

Adopt a Solider

With the holidays coming up many soldiers find themselves far from home. Write a letter or a card to send your thanks for their service to our country. There is also an organization that helps to bring Christmas to Military and Veteran’s families. To adopt a Military family and spread joy simply fill out a volunteer form and get matched with a family. The minimum requirement to adopt a family is to provide gifts for the children and a grocery gift card to help them purchase their holiday dinner and trimmings.

Angel Tree Giving

“Every child deserves to experience the joy of Christmas morning.” - Salvation Army. Angel Tree provides gifts to children and seniors who are in need. This is an excellent opportunity to bring a smile to a child or senior during the holiday season. Each year locations are set up all around the world where you can go and pick a person to sponsor for the Christmas season. Simply adopt an Angel ornament form from any of their locations, fulfill the wish list and bring it back to one of their many donation drop of locations.

Montgomery Food Bank

Montgomery Food Bank Stock the Sleigh Holiday Food Drive is back again this year. A new way to help those in need is with their Ornament Fundraiser. Donors can scan the QR code on the ornament to make a donation directly to the Food Bank, and then fill out their ornament to be displayed on your Christmas tree, windows, walls - wherever!

Holiday Stocking for Heros

Woodlands Angel Tree

The YMCA of The Woodlands Angel Tree is a great way to put a smile on the face of a child who may not have much of a Christmas otherwise. Pick up your Angel for adoption at the Shadow Bend location, and drop off your gifts by December 6. They also need volunteers to help with wrapping the gifts, here is the link to sign up for volunteering. This is a great way to give back to your own community.
